Cable Twist Bedspread by Amy Venditti

Gauge: 2 rows = 1 inch (dc row + sc row)

Note: Entire afghan is worked with two strands held together.

Size: 86” x 98” for Queen or King size bed (photo is of bedspread on a King size bed)

Materials: N hook (or size needed to obtain gauge)

Worsted weight yarn, soft white, 208 oz.

Stitches used: sl st, ch, sc, dc, cluster braid, cable, FPdc, reverse hdc.

Pattern: Ch 209.

Row 1: Dc in third ch from hook and next 23 chs, *+(skip next ch, 2 dc in next ch) 17 times, skip next ch,+ dc in next 26 chs,* repeat from * to * once more, then from + to +, dc in last 25 chs.

Row 2: Ch 1, turn, sc in each dc across: 204 sc.

Row 3: Ch 3, turn, dc in next sc, *+(work FPdc around the post of 4^th dc from last FPdc, work FPdc around the post of next dc on same row, working around both FPdc just made, work FPdc around the post of dc to the right of first FPdc, skip 3 sc behind FPdc group) cable made, dc in next 2 sc, FPdc, dc in next 2 sc, [(YO, insert hook around the post of 4^th dc from last FPdc and pull up a loop, YO and draw through 2 loops on hook) 3 times, YO and draw through all 4 loops on hook {cluster made}, skip sc behind cluster, dc in next 2 sc, work cluster around the post of next dc on same row] cluster braid made, dc in next 2 sc, FPdc, dc in next 2 sc, cable, dc in next 2 sc +, FPdc, (skip next sc, 2 dc in next sc) 17 times, FPdc, dc in next 2 sc *, repeat from * to * 2 times, then from + to + once.

Row 4: Repeat row 2.

Row 5: Ch 3, turn, dc in next sc, *+[skip next FPdc on row below, work FPdc around the post of next 2 FPdc, work FPdc around the post of skipped FPdc (cable made)], skip 3 sc behind cable, dc in next 2 dc, FPdc, dc in next 2 dc, cluster around post of dc to the left of next cluster on row below, dc in next 2 dc, work cluster around post of next dc on same row, dc in next 2 dc, FPdc, dc in next 2 dc, cable, dc in next 2 dc +, FPdc, (skip next sc, 2 dc in next sc) 17 times, FPdc, dc in next 2 sc *, repeat from * to * 2 more times, then from + to + once.

Repeat rows 4 & 5 to length. Finish off.

Border:

Row 1: With RS facing, join with sl st in corner, 3 sc in corner, sc evenly around, join with sl st. DO NOT TURN.

Row 2: Ch 2, skip next sc, *rhdc in next sc, ch 1, skip next sc, repeat from * around, sl st. Finish off.
